Level of Detail (LOD) Tweaks




 

This mod tweaks many of the LOD settings in the game so higher quality models/textures are loaded sooner. You won't see the game load the low-quality model, then suddenly load the higher quality model as often. It doesn't effect the pop-in distance for the entire object, however. I still haven't figured out how to tweak that setting.

Everyone is free to use my changes as they wish. Integrate them into other mods, change it more if you find better settings, etc.

Install using Frosty Mod Manager. I've included the fbproject file in the archive with the mod.

I've noticed that sometimes when loading into the game the textures/models for the distance world features (mountains, hills, etc) will have a weird flashing effect. I don't know if this is the mod or just a bug inherent in the game, but either way exiting the game and reloading seems to fix it.

I don’t think it’s possible to edit the pop-in distance. I’m trying to do this too but for a different purpose and I can’t find what I’m looking for. I’m trying to make the game render more areas from a bigger distance to avoid that annoying softlock when you go too far from the normal paths.
