NFSC - Pursuit Challenges in Career

NFSC - Pursuit Challenges in Career.
v1.2.1
By El Nico.

Latest Update:
v1.2.1 - Roadblock/Spike requirement nerfs, Remastered UI support.
(dd/mm/yyyy)
(30/11/2025)

Note: There are no changes to any of the Lua scripts,
so you won't need to repeat that part of the installation process.

Files and Installation:

Binary/Binarius:
- Added support for Remastered UI (Non-W2C)
- Added an option to not replace the emitter system texture page (MW Lap KO icon will appear instead).

Events:

I appreciate everyone's kind and constructive responses.
Having a high requirement for a situation tied to a double layer of RNG (in the case of spike strips),
can lead to a frustrating and overly tedious gameplay experience.

Based on feedback, and after using a MW/C roadblock/spike strip milestone calculator
provided by rng_guy, I've decided to significantly lower the spike strip requirement,
and slightly lower the roadblock requirement, as they play very similar.

5_11_we1:
- Reduced Spike Strip Requirement from 45 to 22.

5_9_we1:
- Reduced Roadblock Requirement from 20 to 15.

Cops are now required to progress through the career,
rather than being mostly an annoyance.

Heavily inspired by the "Wanted Events" from Undercover PS2,
these play more like the Wanted Events from UCPS2,
rather than the open world bounty and milestone requirements from MW.

There are 10 Core events that are shared between Vanilla, Improvement Mod v2 and Ultimate Mod.
You are required to complete all 10 of them in order to challenge Darius in the Canyon.
They're generally based on the mid-late game milestone challenges from MW, though upped a little bit.
These are:

- Commit 5 Infractions, Heat 4.
- Get 400K Cost To State, Heat 5.
- Avoid 15 Roadblocks, Heat 5.
- Tag 42 Cop Cars, Heat 5.
- Evade within 5 minutes, Heat 5.
- Destroy 55 Cop Cars, Heat 5.
- Destroy 3 Heavy Rhinos(non-supercharged), Heat 5.
- Avoid 22 Spike Strips, Heat 8.
- Evade Cops After 30 minutes, Heat 8.
- Get 3,250,000 Bounty, Heat 8.

For Vanilla Only, there are also 7 optional events that are on the easier side.
If you don't want these, you don't have to install them.
These are:

- Escape within 3 minutes, Heat 1.
- Evade Cops after 3 minutes, Heat 2
- Get 25K Cost To State, Heat 2.
- Destroy 7 Cop Cars in San Juan, Heat 2.
- Get 40K Bounty, Heat 3.
- Avoid 7 Roadblocks, Heat 4.
- Tag 20 Cop Cars, Heat 4.

List of compatible larger mods:

- Improvement Mod v2.
- Ultimate Mod.
- Remastered UI (non-W2C)

Optional, but highly recommended:

- W2C by Max Hwoy + Others
https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/3041

Most Wanted's map was designed with pursuits in mind, whereas Carbon's wasn't.
Pursuits themselves aren't really any more difficult on Carbon's map,
but they can be painfully annoying to escape at times.
Ultimate Mod comes with W2C, and ImpMod has an OGVI compatibility patch.
If you're installing on a vanilla copy of the game, install W2C using VltEd first, then switch over to OGVI[Attribulator].

For those who want a challenge:

- Revamped Pursuits (Carbon) by Splash45
https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/1781

- Relentless Cops (Carbon) by JackJohnson
https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/2013

This mod doesn't touch the core pursuit mechanics in any way,
so if you're looking for more of a challenge, one of these might be what you're looking for.

5b. If you're using W2C, select "W2C"
5c. If you're using Remastered UI (Non-W2C), select "Remastered UI (Non-W2C)"
5d. If you don't want to replace the emitter texture page, select "Don't replace emitter textures"

2. Go File -> Import ModScript and select "Install.nfsms"
3. Select one of the following installation types:
- Vanilla [10 Core Events]
- Vanilla [10 Core Events + 7 Easier Events]
- Improvement Mod v2 [10 Core Events]
- Ultimate Mod [10 Core Events]
4. Select any optional scripts you want, or leave the box(es) unchecked.
5. Click Import.
6. Save changes.

Part 2b: Adding the bytecodes [Attribulator + OGVI]

In order for things to function at all, let alone as intended,
you will need to manually add the blobs to their corresponding messagehandler nodes.
These are Lua scripts compiled into bytecode that the game can read.
As far as I'm aware, there is no 'import_bytecode or import_blob' commands for VltEd or Attribulator,
so once again, you will need to do this manually.

1. Within OGVI, go into gameplay > baseelement > messagehandler and double click on the following nodes:

wantedevent/stategraph_basicrace_prerace_handler_stateenter
wantedevent/stategraph_basicrace_raceover_handler_stateenter
wantedevent/stategraph_basicrace_racing_handler_milestone_display
wantedevent/stategraph_basicrace_racing_handler_niscomplete
wantedevent/stategraph_basicrace_racing_handler_perpbusted
wantedevent/stategraph_basicrace_racing_handler_stateenter

2. within each node, go to bytecode and press "Import binary file"
3. Go into the "BLOBS" folder and select the blob that matches the node name.
4. Either double click, or press "Open" on the blob that matches the node name.
5. Make sure you've done this step for all 6 nodes, and MAKE SURE the names of the blobs match the names of the messagehandler nodes.
6. Save changes and exit.
7. Enjoy :)

@Sus
Install all of the VltEd mods that you want with VltEd first, and then switch over to OGVI.
Improvement mod v2 and Tier 3 car balancing update also support OGVI.
I know it's a little bit inconvenient, but that's just how it is.

A crucial part of the installation process is adding the bytecodes (blobs) to their respective messagehandler nodes.
These are lua scripts compiled into bytecode that the game can read.
As far as I'm aware, there's no way of doing this in VltEd, though I could be wrong.

@ElNico but if i want to install it ¿how i do it? OGVI is not compatible with Vlted and only you can use only one of them (if you use ogvi you cant use vlted again) and i have mods that uses vlted in the installation like ImpModv2 and your Tier 3 cars Balancing mod

@Sus
Forgot to mention.
I might add an optional script that increases the MaxOpenWorldHeat from 8 to 10, so if your copy of the game supports heat 10, you can actually reach it while in the pursuit.

ElNico (November 12, 2025 @ 11:33)
@Sus
It cannot be installed with VltEd.
As for the heat level stuff, such as heat 9 and 10:
I tested that out during development, and it worked fine,
but I ended up sticking with Heat 5 and 8 just to make mod compatibility less of a headache.
For example with ImpMod, some people might have MW heat level order, some might not.
Hope this helps :)

it cant be installed with Vlted? also would be nice a challenge in condition 9 or 10(i dont remember if the 9 is used but even ImpMod has the 10 unused)
