Heat Beats - NFS:MW Soundtrack Mod

NFS: Most Wanted OST is, by far, one of the best soundtracks of racing games. But, after thousands of playthroughs, it might get repetitive. So, thinking about that, this mod aims to renew the track list without losing the Most Wanted vibe that Black Box and EA intended.

This mod features 26 songs released in the 90s-2000s. You might notice some songs are there by default in the game, they weren't replaced because it would be a loss to the game vibe if they were gone. So, instead of replacing them, i added higher quality and/or explicit versions of each one. Some songs are not avaliable on Spotify or Deezer. So, if you want to hear the songs, you can by this YouTube playlist

Highly recommended to play with Sun Set Mod, so you get a whole new experience.

REQUIREMENTS

NFS-VltEd, by nfsu360.

INSTALLATION

Before anything, CREATE A BACKUP OF MW_Music.mpf and MW_Music.mus IF YOU DIDN'T ALREADY!
Also, don't download the older versions. They're... just not working.

1. Drop the 'SOUND' folder on your game folder. Replace the files;
2. Open NFS-VltEd. Click on File -> Open -> Choose your game directory;
3. Go to 'File' again on NFS-VltEd. Click on Import -> Modscript -> Choose the 'song names.nfsms' file on the mod folder;
4. Go to 'File', and 'Save';
5. Now you can already open the game. Enjoy!

UPDATE 12/14/2025
-Updated the 'song names.nfsms' file. Some song names were incorrect. The old version, with the incorrect song names, was already deleted.

@Nobody You need to edit the song names with NFS Vlt-Ed, then export the changes as a .nfsms file. I don't remember exactly where the song names are located, but there's a specific section with all of them

@Nobody You can edit the songs with Audacity, I mainly use it for shortening the songs and changing the frequency to 44100 Hz.

About the volume, you can also edit on Audacity, but will really depend on your testing. The game kind of has an "auto" audio balance, but I recommend you test until you find a comfortable volume balance, not too louder yet not too quieter than the rest of the game

Also, I'm currently working on my own soundtrack mod for Most Wanted. I know how to replace songs, but my only issues are song volume and editing some songs to make them shorter. Any advice on how to fix them?
