NFSMW Crossfire - Pursuit Mod
CROSSFIRE - The biggest pursuit overhaul
NFSMW Crossfire is a pursuit mod that greatly expands the base game's pursuit system.
With the help of NFSMW Bartender and Speedfixer by oldmanjenkins, and Open Limit Adjuster by gaycoderprincess, cops were made much harder, and 4 gamemodes were added to Heat levels 7, 8, 9 and 10.
Crossfire also adds some lore about the cops, and Bartender and Speedfixer allow for new mechanics in the Heat levels.
Features:
- Greatly increased difficulty for vanilla Heat levels (Heat 6 is especially hard);
- Unique gamemodes for Heat levels 7 through 10 (4 challenges were changed to include them; these are marked with "CROSSFIRE" in their titles);
- Completely revamped Speedbreaker, thanks to Speedfixer - it's now a short invincibility period;
- New mechanics (thanks to Bartender, Speedfixer and some creativity);
- Modified the player cars of over 12 challenges, some of which are exclusive to Crossfire (marked with [SPECIAL] in their titles);
- Optional rework for Blacklist Milestones;
- Optional difficulty increase for many Challenges;
- Optional modified SMS messages that explain some of the lore and mechanics of the mod;
- Optional bundled mod: Healthbars for cops by trelbutate;
- And more!
New mechanics, made possible with Bartender, Speedfixer and some creativity:
- Heat levels will increase when you damage or destroy police vehicles;
- The Speedbreaker is now a short invincibility period that barely affects your car's handling or the flow of time;
- You must destroy cops in order to recharge your Speedbreaker;
- Undercover cops won't show up on radar;
- Groups of 3 stronger police cars may appear sometimes (pursuit leaders);
- Heat 6's max Bounty combo is increased for a risk/reward mechanic (some other levels have this too);
- Some vehicles are exclusive to roadblocks (more relevant for non-vanilla Heat levels);
- A very peculiar bug with collisions was explored to make Rhinos that fling you possible;
- And many more mechanics included in the non-vanilla Heat levels!
Cops from Vanilla Heat levels:
- Heat 1: Civic Cruisers and an occasional Light SUV.
- Heat 2: Same as above, but with Undercover Civic Cruisers and more SUVs.
- Heat 3: Street Racing Unit (SRU) takes control: Now with State Cruisers.
- Heat 4: The SRU now uses heavier SUVs, Undercover State Cruisers and a Helicopter.
- Heat 5: Crossfire Division (CFD) takes control: Federal Cruisers, Heavy SUVs and more.
- Heat 6: FBI's VRT unit takes control: Undercover Federal Cruisers and heavier versions of the above.
Special Heat levels:
HEAT 07: Bounty Attack
In this Heat level, you lose Bounty every 15 seconds. Your goal is to rack up as much Bounty (called Score in here) as you can.
The max Combo for this level is 10, so try to keep killing cops. There will be multiple vehicles, each with its own purpose: Weak & Strong targets for generic destruction, Bonus targets that reward you with lots of Score, Bomb targets that take Score from you, Surprise vehicles in roadblocks that can either be Bonuses or Bombs, Combo Keepers that will help you keep your Combo high, Phantom vehicles that can't be touched (you have to destroy them with Pursuit Breakers) and don't appear on the map, etc.
HEAT 08: Road Rage
In this level, you will be chased by heavy NPC vehicles who got really mad at you making their insurance more expensive.
They are not cops, so NONE of them will show up on your minimap! You'll have to trust your eyes and gut to deal with them.
HEAT 09: On the Run
In this level, you can be busted from large distances and at very high speeds, so never stop running!
There are two main categories of vehicles: Chasers, which are weaker and faster cars designed to always keep up with you, and Enforcers, stronger, slower and bigger vehicles designed to slow you down.
There will be lots of very strong roadblocks, which forces you to frequently change your path instead of staying on the highway.
HEAT 10: Invincible FBI
This level is the same as Heat 6, but with a twist: ALL cops have infinite HP and masses, and can only be destroyed with Pursuit Breakers.
Roadblocks will also have vehicles with infinite masses; however, they always have ONE vehicle with the model of a Light SUV and a heavy mass. In case you can't avoid the roadblock, try hitting that vehicle instead.
What do I need to install Crossfire?
To install this mod, you need VltEd and Binary, which can be downloaded from NFSMods.
NFSMW Unlimiter is also required, as this mod has some addon cops (actually just reskins).
The installation instructions are in the READ ME file. The installation will be handled automatically by the installation scripts.
Make sure you read the entire READ ME file to avoid any errors or incompatibilities.
IMPORTANT:
Due to the complexity of this mod, it does not have an uninstall script. Make sure to backup your GLOBAL, CARS and LANGUAGES folders before installation.

Changelog:
- v1.1.0
[REBALANCE] Rebalanced the difficulty of the mod (not to make it easy, but rather, to make it fun):
- Nerfed many cop masses;
- Nerfed cop health (they were basically all invincible before, their health had no meaning at all);
- Nerfed cop acceleration values (no more rocketship Civic Cruisers... probably);
- Slightly nerfed Spike Strip spawn rates;
- Adjusted milestones and challenge goals;
- Greatly lowered Roadblock and Spike Strip milestones, as they're too RnG-heavy;
- Roadblock and Spike Strip challenges no longer have their goals increased with "Harder Challenge Goals"
- Removed the "Adjust Blacklist Bounty" option, as it was irrelevant and unbalanced;
- Added a new custom car for the Road Rage challenge.
- Updated the bundled Bartender's version for more features.
[NEW BUNDLED MODS]
- Open Limit Adjuster, by gaycoderprincess;
==> Allows for more freedom in my end, as it fixes some issues and opens more possibilities;
- SpeedFixer, by oldmanjenkins;
==> Allows for unique SpeedBreaker mechanics that work as a great tool to fight back against cops.
-NFSMW Unlimiter is now required to play the mod.
- This allows me to create or bundle multiple addon cops, thus expanding the possibilities for cop cars.
- [HEAT 07] Created many custom cop models replacing Bonus and Bomb targets. They're reskins of existing cops and fix the issue of disappearing models, as well as having more aesthetic freedom.
- New SpeedBreaker mechanics, made possible by the SpeedFixer mod, by oldmanjenkins:
==> The SpeedBreaker now only lasts 2.0 seconds, and you need to kill cops to recharge it.
==> The SB is now an "invincible mode" that makes your mass "infinite" (you can still be busted!).
==> You are still not immune to Heat 10's invincible cops.
==> You can activate the SB at any speed, even when stationary. This helps you escape when pinned down.
==> The SB now doesn't slow down time and barely changes your car's handling.
==> All of this was made to make the SB a "super mode" to help you escape dire situations.
- [HEAT 07]
==> The SB can only be recharged by destroying High Value targets (0.5 seconds each).
==> Destroying Bomb or Super Bomb targets will drain/deplete your SB charge.
- New optional feature: the possibility of spawning 15 Rhinos at once.
- Used Bartender's Roadblock editor to create a few custom Roadblocks.
- Clarified some documentation.
- v1.0.1 - fixed a very stupid mistake with the installation (thanks to BUDGET_TOASTER for the help)
- v1.0.0 - release

Hello, can you please provide an uninstall script for VltEd. i am stuck with this mod since i install it in the beginning and now i want to remove it buit my backups alwayys had this mod.christos0254 (January 20, 2026 @ 10:00)
I got to give you props with how you made the cops much more difficult than what I remembered they were in the original game. Currently doing the challenge series first before starting story mode to get a taste of how the police would be like and man they are very challenging (currently on event #16 with increased challenge series difficulty).

ATTENTION: Released an emergency update to fix an installation error. Thanks to BUDGET_TOASTER for fixing it as i don't have my laptop right now.

@XHN did you try installing only the base mod, without any optional features? It's possible that i forgot to write a ".nfsms" in one of the scripts. Please let me know if you still have this issue, but at the moment i don't know what could be causing it
