Time Trial Ghosts

Description

A mod that replaces opponents with TrackMania-like replay ghosts from other players, and allows you to compete against community times in the bundled "Challenge Series" list of events
Currently supports Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, ProStreet and Undercover

Features

  • A built-in set of events in the Challenge Series to compete with other players on
  • (Carbon and ProStreet) Drift scoring has been fixed, giving you the same amount of points regardless of whether you're using a controller or a keyboard, or have XtendedInput installed
  • (Most Wanted, Carbon, ProStreet, Undercover) Ghosts are timed based on game ticks, meaning speedbreaker is timed in real-time, and the timebug no longer applies anymore
  • Ghosts include a checksum of the player's game files, allowing you to check if someone's made any potentially unfair VLT modifications
  • Ghosts include player inputs, and while they're not directly usable for playback (the game is not deterministic) it can still be used to verify legitimacy
  • (Most Wanted, Carbon, ProStreet, Undercover) Resetting your car will immediately restart the race, TrackMania style (can be turned off in the settings)
  • Support for Undercover Reformed, cleanly separating ghosts on the vanilla game and ghosts on Reformed, with the Most Wanted and The Run handling options further being separated
  • The mod includes a basic anti-cheat, preventing common methods of cheating
  • (Most Wanted, Carbon, ProStreet, Undercover) The physics tickrate has been locked to 120, meaning Widescreen Fix no longer gives you an unfair advantage
  • (ProStreet) Tank Unslapper is included in the mod, enabled by default, and ghosts are cleanly separated by whether they have the steering delay removed or not
  • The World Detail setting no longer influences prop spawns in Carbon and is locked to a lower value in Most Wanted, keeping everyone on a level playing field with reduced props

Installation

  • Make sure you're using a supported version of the game you want to install the mod for. (Underground 2: v1.2, Most Wanted: v1.3, Carbon: v1.4, ProStreet: v1.1, Undercover: v1.0.0.1)
  • Plop the files from the mod's .zip archive into your game folder.
  • (Most Wanted and Carbon) Start the game and launch any Challenge Series race or Quick Race event, you will now have a ghost to race against instead of AI opponents.
  • (Underground 2, ProStreet, Undercover) Press F5 to open the mod's menu and play the included Challenge Series.
  • Enjoy, nya~ :3

@gaycoderprincess I sincerely hope the you can release a version that completely preserves the game’s physics and vehicle handling, or add an option to toggle this feature. There is a large community of players who pursue ultimate speed without any handling changes —for example, they study racing lines and collision angles thousands of times just to gain 0.1 seconds. This mod can greatly help improve these players’ skills. So I hope the author can help us out, and we would be extremely grateful!

@gaycoderprincess Our goal is to use this excellent mod to compete against our own ghost car, and the time result must be the same as that achieved in the original game's race.

@gaycoderprincess It doesn't matter. This is exactly what we need. Please do it for us.

@NAMEGG that would ironically make things way less fair, you'd be competing against all the other ghosts on the old 120 tickrate

We kindly request that you pay attention to the opinions of players who prefer the pure and original version of the game. Please implement a switch so that we can choose the original, pure game mechanics for fair competition. If possible, we would be extremely grateful!
