Most Wanted: GameCube Soundtrack Restoration
Features
Full OST Migration: Includes all licensed tracks extracted directly from the GameCube version.
Authentic Compression: Preserves the original 22050Hz sample rate and DSP-ADPCM audio flavor.
Restored Mashups: Includes the specific GameCube-exclusive music edits and radio edits necessitated by the mini-DVD storage limits.
Technical Details
The GameCube version is famous (or infamous) for its storage constraints, which led to a unique audio profile. While the sample rate is lower than the PC's default, many fans prefer the punchier mid-tones of the GameCube's hardware-decoded audio. This mod is for those who want that specific 2005 console nostalgia.
Installation
Backup your original SOUND folder in the NFS Most Wanted directory.
Extract the provided .mus and .mpf files into [Game Path]\SOUND\PFDATA\.
Launch the game and enjoy.
Credits
Tools: vgmstream, foobar2000.

@SolidSonicTH Simply swapping .MUS and .MPF files won't work because PC and GameCube use completely different audio encodings and headers. The GameCube engine specifically expects DSP/ADPCM streams, so it silently drops the PC files. To actually get custom music into the GC ISO, you'd need to write custom C++ code/tools to re-encode the audio into the GameCube's native format and rebuild the bank structures properly.SolidSonicTH (July 30, 2026 @ 16:31)
I'm curious: do you think it might be possible to do the reverse of this (import better music into a GC ISO)? I tried swapping around .MUS and .MPF files then rebuilding the GC ISO with them (after repacking them back into their respective ZZDATA_.bin containers) and they never work. The GC ISO still works with the wrong .MUS/.MPF, it just doesn't play music, so it feels like you just need to be able to inject music into the GC's .MUS file somehow.

@ArcySeguraGaming I guess you're just part of the pile that got mad about it. If it’s so useless and lame, it’s kinda weird you still went out of your way to comment on it xd.

I still think it's kinda useless though to add cutdown version of the songs to PC because the cut down versions of the songs actually ANGERED people. You do you but this is kinda lame bro.
