NFSMW - Overdrive

NFSMW Overdrive is a mod plugin for Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) on PC that tweaks how transmission upgrades handle gear counts.

Normally, 5-speed cars make you wait until the very last (Ultimate) package to finally unlock their 6th gear. With this mod installed, five-speed cars get their sixth gear as soon as you slap on the first transmission package (Race)!

Affected Cars

This applies to all 31 cars in the game data that feature an upgraded gear set:

911turbo 997s a3 a4 carreragt caymans clio clk500 cobaltss corvette cts db9 eclipsegt elise fordgt gallardo gti gto is300 lancerevo8 monaro murcielago mustanggt punto rx7 rx8 sl500 slr supra tt viper

Note: Cars that aren't on this list (like the M3 GTR, SL65, Camaro, 911 GT2, plus cop, traffic, and semi entries) either ship fully specced out or don't have an upgraded set to draw from. Cars that already natively feature six gears are left completely alone.

Installation & Compatibility

1. Make sure you have an ASI loader installed (if you're running other MW mods, you've already got one).

2. Drop NFSMWOverdrive.asi and NFSMWOverdrive.ini right into your game's scripts folder.

3. To uninstall, just delete those two files.

It plays nicely alongside other classics like Unlimiter, Bartender, ExtraOptions, and the Widescreen Fix.

Compatibility: Built and tested for the standard English release executable (speed.exe, size: 6,029,312 bytes, MD5: C0516B485065FABDD69579816B5DF763). The plugin verifies bytes on startup and will safely disable itself with a message box if a mismatch is detected, meaning it won't break different game versions.

Configuration
