RenoDX - Native HDR for Need for Speed: The Run

Disclaimer:
  • This game is a hard ass, where the regular way to create HDR output causes errors.
  • Therefore, though installation is still drag and drop, getting it to work may be more of a hassle than the consistent SDR experience.
  • However, HDR enthusiasts should get a good kick sticking through, as Black Box's last NFS is capable of mogging even now.

About:
RenoDX by CLShortFuse

Features:
  • Tonemap: Removed all possible brickwall clipping. Replaced/Upgraded with multiple rolloff curves to faithfully extend & control hue, chrominance, and luminance. (Original is Reinhard with an overshooting peak of 1.62) (This mod was hidden previously because this aspect was horrible.)
  • Tonemap: Reduced excessive chrominance gain from the per-channel midtones and shadow lowering.
  • Motion Blur: Doubled the original sample count for high-quality streaks. Forced on for levels that were accidentally off (e.g. Industrial Run).
  • Miscellaneous: Sun boosted to new peak, headlights lens flare brighter, fixed orange arrow border causing white car reflections.

Known Issues:
  • Distant terrain flickering. (Not too intrusive.)
  • Text glitching when many are present. (Only non-gameplay menus.)
  • Rare random chance that minimap corrupts for a level. (Alt-Tabbing triggers, and restart level will fix.)

Installation:
  • Launch game to initialize and set settings.
  • Drag and drop files.
  • Tweak mod in new ReShade tab: "RenoDX".
  • (See README in downloads for more details & troubleshooting.)

Compatibility:
  • Unfortunately, crashes alongside Definitive Edition by BadassBaboon.
