Need for Speed: Carbon - Chain of Command

Introduction

For almost twenty years, the Palmont Police Department has been made a laughingstock of cut content and lazy pasted assets from Most Wanted. While it's true that police were never intended to be the focal point of Carbon, I personally felt deeply unsatisfied with the vanilla units and have spent the last few years attempting to give this game's police their own visual identity. While I have made and even released some previous attempts at this concept, none of them were ever truly complete or cohesive in design. Last winter, I decided to try again... and ended up spending three months working to create something entirely new. This is the result, and to be honest... I'm really damn proud of it. I hope you enjoy it too.

Description

This mod is a complete and total re-imagining of all police units featured in NFS Carbon, based on real-world designs and my own personal experiences with law enforcement. Pursuits begin at the municipal level, with Palmont City officers working alongside San Juan county sheriffs to enforce basic speeding and traffic violations. As pursuits escalate, however, command will be deferred to the jurisdiction of Palmont State Highway Patrol, equipped with factory-new 2006 Pontiac GTOs in addition to heavy backup assistance from the Tactical Force Response Unit. If state police are still unable to apprehend the suspect, they will then defer to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's very own Street Racing Unit, a fabled law enforcement division mentioned only by name in Rockport. The feds will stop at nothing to swiftly and brutally clamp down on the outbreak of street racing on the west coast, and have even readied a S.W.A.T. team detachment to provide additional lethal force.

Features

  • All pursuit units have been completely redesigned from scratch, now featuring a consistent "Thin Blue Line" design language.
  • Police cars now feature higher-quality, fixed and improved geometry/models provided courtesy of 379Felipe's Improvement Mod.
  • Every single police vehicle texture (with the exception of the helicopter and Cross) has been redesigned and remade in higher quality.
  • Police chases now follow a realistic progression and finally reflect dispatch calls; ranging from city police to state troopers to federal agents.
  • The color of police light flashes and flares has been overhauled to a new all-blue aesthetic, designed to compliment the game's art direction.
  • Busted cutscenes will now feature the correct police vehicles at every heat level, courtesy of a lightweight OGVI script that directly edits them.
  • This mod is certified compatible with most, if not all other mods (including total conversion mods such as CBR), as long as it is installed after them.
